RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) - The future of Brazil starlet Neymar is to be left on hold until after the Copa America opener amid rumours linking him with a move to Spain or England, media reports said Wednesday.
Neymar, fresh from winning the Copa Libertadores with
Santos, has been linked for months with both Chelsea and Real Madrid but media site G1 quoted his agent Wagner Ribeiro as saying there would be no news until August.
"Everything will be resolved in August, towards the end of the transfer window. Although Real Madrid or any other club would pay the buyout clause (of 64 million dollars) the decision is down to the player," he added.
"When the Copa America is over the player will make an announcement on the issue," Ribeiro was quoted as saying, adding that Neymar hoped to play for Santis at the FIFA Club World Cup in December.
Neymar came here insisting he would put all thought of his future aside to try to land the Copa in his debut senior tournament and his father was quoted Tuesday as saying that he would not address transfer talk during the event.
Chelsea had an initial approach for the 19-year-old turned down last year but Real and also Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the situation.
Neymar's current deal with Santos is worth almost two million dollars a season through to 2015.
