SHANGHAI (AP)—Daniel Gyurta of Hungary overtook Olympic champion Kosuke Kitajima on the final lap to win gold in the 200-meter breaststroke at the world swimming championships.
sGyurta, the European champion, finished in a time of 2 minutes, 08.41. seconds on Friday. Japan’s Kitajima, who was on a world-record pace with 50 meters to go, took the silver in 2:08.63. Christian Vom Lehn of Germany earned the bronze in 2:09.06.
