Four more Mexico players have traces of banned substance

MEXICO CITY, July 1 (Reuters) - Four more Mexico
players have been found with traces of the banned substance
clenbuterol in their system, a senior official with soccer's
governing body FIFA said on Friday.

The four, however, have not failed doping tests. The latest
news follows last month's suspension of five Mexico players for
testing positive for clenbuterol.

FIFA's chief medical officer Jiri Dvorak said it was a
surprise that so many players from the squad had contact with
the same banned substance.

"We are talking about nine of 14 players," Dvorak told
Mexico's Televisa television station.

Mexican Football Federation (FMF) president Justino Compean
said he would not release the names of the four latest players
found to have traces of clenbuterol.

"Any of us could have these traces (shown by the four
players). They are nothing more than traces but these haven't
reached a level which would be classified as doping," added
Compean.

The FMF has said the five banned last month -- goalkeeper
Guillermo Ochoa, defenders Francisco Rodriguez and Edgar Duenas
and midfielder duo Antonio Naelson 'Sinha' and Christian
Bermudez -- ate contaminated meat.
