Clemens’ lawyer says the hearing that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held three years ago had nothing to do with Congress’ responsibility for legislation. He said the hearing was only concerned with airing a “credibility contest” between Clemens and his longtime trainer, Brian McNamee, who said he injected the pitcher with steroids and human growth hormone.
Clemens denied those allegations and has been charged with perjury, false statements and obstruction of Congress.
