Celtic down Glory in Australian tour game

PERTH, Australia (AFP) - Glasgow Celtic won their first game of their Australian pre-season tour with a comfortable 2-0 win over A-League club Perth Glory in Perth on Saturday.

Goals to Gary Hooper and defender Charlie Mulgrew in either half sealed the win for the Scottish giants, who lost 1-0 to the Central Coast Mariners in their opening tour match in Sydney last weekend.
Hooper swooped on to a long pass from Glenn Loovens and beat the offside trap to slide the ball under goalkeeper Danny Vukovic in the 16th minute.
Mulgrew headed the second in the 51st minute off a free-kick on the left from South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng.
Celtic's Israeli midfielder Beram Kayal caught a swinging elbow from Adam Hughes and received lengthy treatment on the field before being substituted with a bloodied nose.
The Israeli was clearly frustrated as he came off, kicking away a sound-effects microphone after a consoling hug from manager Neil Lennon failed to calm him down.
Lennon later confirmed that Kayal had suffered a broken nose, but said there was no malice in the incident.
"I thought we played well," Lennon said.
"I felt with the week's preparation the players would be better for it and that proved to be the case.
"Hooper scored a good goal for us and we got an early goal in the second half and we were pretty much in control from then on."
Celtic round out their Australian tour with a match against two-time A-League champions Melbourne Victory in Melbourne on Wednesday.
