Bryans rally to keep US in Davis Cup fight

AUSTIN, Texas (AFP) - World No. 1 doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan kept the United States in the Davis Cup hunt with a 6-7 (3/7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Spain's Marcel Granollers and Fernando Verdasco on Saturday.

The brothers lifted the Americans within 2-1 in the best-of-five men's team tennis quarter-final tie against the Spaniards, who seek their third title in four years and can still advance by winning one of two Sunday singles matches.
Verdasco had never played doubles alongside Granollers, who was a substitute for Feliciano Lopez after Lopez won a five-set singles thriller over Mardy Fish on Friday that lasted four hours.
The US squad, whose only win in 37 ties after losing the first two matches came against Australia in 1934 at London, will try to pull off another shocker on Sunday by sweeping the singles matches.
Fish, ranked eighth, will meet sixth-ranked Spaniard David Ferrer in the first singles match while 10th-ranked Andy Roddick, the hometown hero who lost in straight sets to Ferrer on Friday, faces Lopez in the finale.
