AP Source: Seahawks reach deal with Branch, Siavii

RENTON, Wash. (AP)—The Seattle Seahawks have bolstered their defensive line after reaching deals with free agent defensive tackles Alan Branch(notes) and Junior Siavii(notes) on Thursday night.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the agreements with Branch and Siavii to The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because free agent signings can’t be announced until Friday.
ESPN.com first reported the signings.
Branch has played in all 32 games at nose tackle the past two seasons for Arizona. Last season, Branch made three starts and recorded a career-high 35 tackles.
Siavii spent part of last season with Seattle before being placed on injured reserve in late December after suffering a serious stinger.
They’ll help add depth to a shallow defensive line. Seattle is still trying to re-sign defensive tackle Brandon Mebane(notes), while fellow defensive tackle Colin Cole(notes) is still recovering from offseason surgery.
Also on Thursday, the Seahawks locked up linebacker and special teams standout Matt McCoy(notes) with a one-year deal. Fullback Michael Robinson(notes) also appears headed back to the Seahawks after posting on Twitter Thursday morning that he had reached agreement on a deal with Seattle.
McCoy’s agent says his contract is for one year. McCoy played mostly on special teams but also had 19 tackles last season for the Seahawks. McCoy’s signing is important with linebacker Will Herring(notes) moving on to New Orleans.
Robinson was signed by Seattle before the start of last season after he was waived by San Francisco. Robinson was Seattle’s only fullback last season but was also a key contributor on special teams.
