UEFA charges Barcelona’s Busquets over racial slur

NYON, Switzerland (AP)—UEFA has charged Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets with racially insulting Real Madrid defender Marcelo during the Champions League semifinals.

UEFA says its disciplinary panel will hear the case on Sunday.

Busquets is alleged to have violated UEFA’s discrimination rules “by directing racist abuse towards” Marcelo, who is black.
UEFA says it used video evidence of the incident during an April 27 first-leg match in Madrid.

Barcelona won 2-0 and drew the return 1-1 to advance to the final against Manchester United.

Busquests could be suspended for the May 28 match at Wembley Stadium in London.
