Teens Ishikawa, Manassero among seven added to US Open fiel

NEW YORK, May 24 (Reuters) - Teenagers Ryo Ishikawa and Matteo Manassero were among seven additional golfers to earn exemptions into next month's U.S. Open championship at Congressional, the U.S. Golf Association said Tuesday.

Japan's Ishikawa, 19, and 18-year-old Manassero of Italy joined the field for the June 16-19 tournament in Bethesda, Maryland, because they were ranked in the world's top 50 players.
Also qualifying on that basis were Anders Hansen of Denmark, Peter Hanson of Sweden, South African Rory Sabbatini and American David Toms. Each of the 44 players ahead og them rankings, had already qualified for the championship.
Australian Aaron Baddeley also earned an exemption from his ninth-place position on the U.S. PGA Tour money list.
Their inclusion brought the number of exempt players to 72, the USGA said.
That number may increase with the inclusion of those who crack the top 50 in world golf rankings as of June 13 that are not already exempt, or through winners of one of the three remaining PGA Tour events to be played prior to the U.S. Open.
Sectional qualifying will determine the rest of the field for the year's second major championship.
