TERRASSA, Spain, May 7 (Reuters) - The Spanish Open prepared to honour Seve Ballesteros with a minute's silence on Saturday, while many of those competing took to the course wearing black ribbons to mark the death of the five-times major winner.
The minute's silence was due to be held at 1445 local time, and again at 1501 organisers of the tournament said, after the inspirational Ballesteros died in the early hours of Saturday aged 54 following a long battle with cancer.
The flags at the course were flying at half-mast, while Jose Maria Olazabal and Miguel Angel Jimenez embraced on the practice range at the start of the day as they remembered their friend and fellow Spaniard.
