Lille sweep board with best French coach, player

PARIS (AFP) - Newly-crowned French champions Lille swept the board on Sunday as coach Rudi Garcia was named coach of the year by the French footballers union UNFP while their young Belgian star Eden Hazard received the accolade of best player.

Lille won the league and Cup double for their first major honours in over half a century, securing the league title with Saturday's draw at Paris Saint Germain, whom they beat last week to win the French Cup.
Hazard, 20, has been a sensation with his dribbling and creative vision at the hub of much of Lille's success.
Having already been voted best young player in 2009 and 2010 Hazard, who has caught the eye of several top European clubs, this time added the senior title to his growing list of honours after scoring seven league goals and adding nine assists.
Former French star Zinedine Zidane recently said of the midfield gem that "he will soon be a great player (and) he represents the future."
Garcia meanwhile was singled out not just for bringing silverware back to the northern club but for his ability to succeed playing a brand of fluid and attacking football which saw the club end the season as top scorers with 65 goals from 37 games.
Garcia was actually dismissed in 2009 but then swiftly reinstalled.
