Baseball-Rays' Upton banned two games for tirade

NEW YORK, May 7 (Reuters) - Tampa Bays Rays outfielder B.J. Upton has been suspended for two games for a tirade late in a recent game after being called out on strikes, Major League Baseball said on Saturday.

The two-times All-Star slammed his bat and helmet to the ground and had to be restrained by the third base coach after striking out for the fourth time while leading off the ninth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Upton, who also received an undisclosed fine for the incident, has appealed the ruling, delaying a ban that was supposed to begin on Saturday. (Reporting by Frank Pingue in Toronto;
