Zaragoza drag Getafe down into danger zone with them

Zaragoza improved their survival chances in the Spanish Liga on Monday with a 2-1 home win over free-falling Getafe.Leonardo Ponzio gave Zaragoza the lead in the 14th minute with a long-range swerving left-foot drive which Getafe keeper Oscar Ustari made a complete mess off.

In the 35th minute Nicolas Bertolo made it 2-0 for Zaragoza after a quick break engineered by Ikechukwu Uche.

Getafe's ageless midfielder Francisco Casquero pulled a goal back for the visitors just before half-time, but Zaragoza managed to hold out for the win without too many problems.

Javier Aguirre's team are now fourth from bottom with 33 points from 31 games. Getafe - who have picked up just four points from their last nine games - are fifth from bottom with 34 points.

Getafe president Angel Torres might be tempted to sack coach Michel, with whom he has never got along well.

Almeria are bottom with just 26 points. Then come Malaga and Hercules on 30, Zaragoza on 33, Getafe on 34 and three teams - Deportivo Coruna, Real Sociedad and Osasuna - all on 35.
