Malaysia coach in trouble for snubbing youth job

Malaysia's youth and sports minister has demanded an explanation after former national badminton coach Misbun Sidek rejected an offer to train the country's back-up players. The ex-coach of world number one Lee Chong Wei was given a new role to prepare younger players for
the 2014 Asian Games and 2016 Olympics after retracting his decision to quit last month.
"If Misbun chose not to accept the offer, I need to know the details and need it soon," youth and sports minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek told Bernama news agency.
"I was made to understand that Misbun's task will be to produce many more Lee Chong Wei's for the future and I feel it is a fair request."
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) said Misbun gave no reason for the rejection.
"At this moment, any coach can train Chong Wei. He has reached a level that he does not need much help from a coach," BAM executive committee member Sayed Abu Bakar Abdullah told The Star newspaper.
"Misbun should have accepted this offer. This was an opportunity for him to develop new talent and be a prominent coach in the national team."
Malaysia, who have never won Olympic gold and whose star player Lee will retire after London 2012, has been seeking to groom a new group of players and inject fresh blood into the national team.
