Figure skating-Germany's Savchenko and Szolkowy win pairs crown

Germany's Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy regained the pairs crown they surrendered a year ago when they won the free programme at the world figure skating championships on Thursday.
The German duo, champions in 2008 and 2009, edged out Russian pair
Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov while holders Pang Qing and Tong Jian of China finished third.
The Russians, making their debut in international competition after Ukraine-born Volosozhar was cleared to represent Russia earlier this year, received a standing ovation from a capacity crowd at Moscow's Khodynka Ice Palace after skating last.
They were awarded 140.38 points from the panel of nine judges, putting them some six points ahead of the Chinese couple who led after Wednesday's short programme.
