Chelsea and Real Madrid on Wednesday became the two final clubs to make it through to the round of the last eight in the Champions League.
The Premier League side, who had already done most of the work in the first leg at FC Copenhagen which they won 2-0, played to a goalless draw in London to advance 2-0 on aggregate.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, were in control throughout the 90 minutes against Olympique Lyon and quite deservedly won 3-0 on the night for a 4-1 aggregate victory.
In London Chelsea completely dominated their opponents and created several chances, with Ivorian striker Didier Drogba having several good opportunities and shots at goal.
Surprisingly though, it was Copenhagen who probably had the best chance of the game in the first half when Senegalese striker Dame N'Doye hit the post with a free-kick.
Former champions Real Madrid, who failed to advance to the quarter-finals in their last six attempts, were never in danger against the team that sent them crashing out 2-1 on aggregate last year.
Brazilian defender Marcelo put the home side ahead in the 36th minute after playing a one-two with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Marcelo turned provider in the 66th minute when he sent former Lyon striker Karim Benzema into space and the French international scored with a shot through the legs of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Ten minutes later Angel di Maria was set up by Germany midfielder Mesut Oezil and the Argentine striker lobbed the ball over Lloris to put the game well beyond Lyon.
The two clubs join the already qualified Schalke 04, Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the round of the last eight.
The draw for the quarter-finals will take place at the headquarters of Europe's governing body UEFA on Friday.
