INDIAN WELLS, California (Reuters) - France's Marion Bartoli, serving superbly, reached her first WTA final in two years with a 6-1 6-3 demolition of Belgian Yanina Wickmayer at Indian Wells on Friday.
The 26-year-old, the oldest player left in the draw, broke an error-prone Wickmayer five times in dazzling sunshine at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden to claim a lopsided victory in 85 minutes.
Bartoli, the 15th seed, squealed in delight after hitting a backhand winner down the line to beat her 23rd-seeded opponent for a third time in three meetings.
The Frenchwoman, who fired 10 aces and won 83 percent of her first serve points, has not appeared in a WTA final since she won the biggest title of her career in Stanford in 2009.
In Sunday's final, Bartoli will meet either top seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark or 16th-seeded Russian Maria Sharapova, who were scheduled to play their semi-final later on Friday.
